Presiding Bishop Mark Hanson invites the assembly to join in singing the Navy hymn “Eternal Father, Strong to Save”. Behind Hanson is Commander Harry Griffith. Griffith, U.S. Navy, Chaplain Corps, is currently the only African American ELCA Military Chaplain on active duty. He is scheduled to retire from the Navy this fall.
